Our Teachers We select our teachers very carefully and then train them thoroughly. Native Speaking Teachers (NSTs) and Chinese Teachers each have their own strengths. By working together they give the children the best education possible. Native Speaking Teachers are best equipped to demonstrate correct pronunciation and intonation, practice conversation and develop the students' reading ability. Chinese Teachers help explain grammar, teach the KK phonetic system, give extra help to students and maintain communication with parents after class. Requirements Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline and enjoy working with children. We recruit citizens from many English-speaking countries including the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Previous teaching or tutoring experience is helpful but not required. However, applicants should have some experience working with children. The most important qualities we look for are patience, flexibility, enthusiasm and a good sense of humour. Experience living, working, traveling or studying abroad is also an asset. The language programme is designed so that it can be delivered by instructors with no prior teaching experience. New teachers are trained at the individual branches. By the time an NST steps into the classroom, he/she has a good understanding of our method. Training includes an introduction to the structure of the language programmes, an overview of our books, class observation, training videos, and a mock teaching demonstration. |
